To Qualify for Summer Staff:

  • Commit to serving at least the first 7 of the 9 weeks of summer programming

  • Complete an application, submit reference forms, and interview with a Scioto Hills Staff Member

  • Have a growing relationship with Christ and a desire to be part of a team that is clearly communicating the gospel of Christ

  • Be 16-24 years old

Adventure Tech

The “Ad Tech”, along with our Challenge Course Director, is responsible for running our climbing wall; which includes inspection of the structure, elements, and equipment as well as giving instructions to campers, maintaining a controlled environment, and belaying campers. Additionally, they’re responsible for setting up and running our archery range, helping with games setup, and property maintenance at our challenge courses. Individuals must be at least 18 years old, able to confidently give instruction to small groups, able to stay focused on tasks, and lift 35 pounds. Males preferred.

Animal Barn assistant

The Animal Barn Assistant, along with the Executive Director, is responsible to oversee the care and well being of young animals, the upkeep and cleaning of our animal barn, and supervising campers as they interact with animals. Additionally, they’re responsible to help answer questions and educate campers about the animals in our barn. Individuals must have a great work effort, love some of God’s cutest creatures, and be willing to get their hands dirty.

Audio-Visual Technician

The “A/V Tech”, along with the Technology Manager, is responsible for taking photographs of campers and staff, creating weekly recap videos, and managing the sound and lighting equipment for chapels. Individuals must have a good working knowledge of Mac software, maintain an orderly work environment, be self motivated, and be able to prioritize their time. Individuals with college experience are preferred but not required.

Camp Nanny

The Camp Nanny, along with the permanent staff parents, is responsible for the care, well being, and activities of camp kids from newborn to late elementary. Additionally, they’re responsible for providing broad oversight for camp kids from late elementary to teens. Individuals must have previous child care experience with young children, the ability to multitask, a love for kids, and a desire to plan fun activities. Females are required and college age applicants are preferred.

Craft Assistant

The Craft Assistant, along with the Craft Director, is responsible to keep the craft cabin clean and organized, prepare craft projects, and assist families and cabins of campers during their assigned craft period. During off-peak hours, this person will also assist in other assigned areas of camp. Individuals should be able to work patiently one on one with campers, enjoy crafts, be creative, and work independently at times. Females are preferred.

Cabin Counselor

Cabin Counselors are godly young adults who have a growing relationship with Christ and are passionate about making a difference in the lives of children. With around 10 campers per week, counselors have the unique opportunity, both day and night, to build relationships, demonstrate the love of Christ, and share with campers the life-changing news of the gospel. This can all be done through group settings and one-on-one conversations by engaging campers with biblically based devotions, high adventure courses, team-building challenges, and other exciting, yet intentional activities.

*Must have been out of high school for at least one year, and are required to be 18-24 years of age.

Grounds and maintenance Staff

The Grounds and Maintenance staff, along with our Grounds and Maintenance Directors and Special Projects Coordinator, are responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of our nearly 200 acres, 35 buildings, and physical assets. Chopping wood, mowing, assisting in new construction, building fires, and a myriad of other things, are vital to keeping our ministry going and help us fulfill our mission by serving our guests in an attractive outdoor setting. Individuals must have a desire to work outside with their hands, have a strong work ethic, and work well with others. Males are preferred.

Kitchen Staff

The “Kitchen Staff”, along with the Food Service Director, is responsible for the preparation and serving of daily meals, the cleanliness and organization of the kitchen, its equipment and dishes, the Dining Hall, and laundry area. Individuals must have a desire to serve graciously behind the scenes, have a strong work ethic, lovingly interact with campers, work well with others, and be servant minded. Females are preferred.

Lifeguard

The Lifeguard, along with the Head Lifeguard, is responsible to maintain a safe and fun swimming environment for campers and staff, keep the beachfront and swimming pool areas cleaned and organized, and oversee the operation of beachfront activities. During off-peak hours, this person will also assist in other assigned areas of camp. Individuals must be responsible, be able to remain focused while guarding, and hold a current lifeguarding certification with the Red Cross.

Nurse Intern

The Nurse Intern, along with the Nursing Coordinator, is responsible for creating a safe camp environment, treating injuries and administering first aid,, passing medications, charting, and caring for homesick campers. Individuals must be college students or recent college graduates, compassionate, good communicators, and willing to learn. Third year nursing students are preferred.

Office Assistant

The Office Assistant, along with our Office Manager, is responsible for assisting with camper registration, answering phones, processing camper mail, and assisting with general office operations. Individuals must have a good working knowledge of Mac software, be able to maintain an orderly work environment, be self motivated, and have polite, friendly phone etiquette. Females preferred.

Pop SHop assistant

The Pop Shop Assistant, along with the Hospitality Coordinator, is responsible for serving campers and staff in the Pop Shop, sales, cleaning, accurate bookkeeping, food prep, and assisting campers in other activities. Individuals must be responsible, have a desire to promote a fun welcoming environment for campers, be proficient in basic math, self motivated, and lift 25 pounds. Females preferred.

PLEASE NOTE:

All positions will serve in assisting the counselor in the evening and free times throughout the day (if responsibilities allow). All positions will also stay in cabin with campers and counselor.
