To Qualify for Summer Staff:
You must have an interest in being used by God and desire to be a part of a team that is clearly communicating the Gospel of Christ.
You must be able to reflect Jesus Christ to campers and staff.
You must be able to commit to a full summer of service.
A Minimum age of 16 is required. Some positions require higher minimum age.
This support staff position will be trained to set up games, belay campers on the high ropes courses, set up and teach archery class, and assist with Program and Grounds Maintenance. Individuals must be at least 18 years old and enjoy working outside. Males preferred.
This support staff position works under the supervision of the executive director to oversee the care and maintenance of the young animals in our barn. This person can be male or female and must be at least 16 years of age with a great work effort and love for some of God's cutest creatures. Duties include supervising the barn while campers are present and answering their questions, feeding, watering and in general caring for the animals as well as cleaning, and keeping the barn attractive at all times. This position may at times assist in the dish pit and ground staff when animal barn is not in use.
This support staff position works closely with the Tech Director & Office Manager to produce videos, photography, and other media for campers and parents. Individuals must have a good, working knowledge of Mac software and skill in designing promotional materials. They must also have experience taking quality photographs, as well as some experience creating videos. Audio-Visual Techs will be trained to run the sound system for chapel times and may need to assist with office responsibilities at times. Must be at least 16 years old.
This female support staff position works closely with the permanent staff moms as a nanny to younger camp kids and a check in person for older camp kids. Due to childcare needs during staff training this summer staff position will be less involved with daytime training sessions. A person with previous childcare history especially with young children is required. A love for kids and a desire to plan fun activities for them is necessary. Collage-age student is preferred.
This high school or college age support staff will be working in the craft cabin helping to organize, clean, prepare craft projects, and assist cabins of campers during their assigned craft period. This person should be able to work patiently one on one with campers, enjoy crafts, and can work independently at times. (This position will assist in other assigned areas of camp during evening hours). Females preferred.
Cabin Counselors are godly young* adults who have a growing relationship with Christ and are passionate about making a difference in the lives of children. With around 10 campers per week, counselors have the unique opportunity, both day and night, to build relationships, demonstrate the love of Christ, and share with campers the life-changing news of the gospel. This can all be done through group settings and one-on-one conversations by engaging campers with biblically based devotions, high adventure courses, team-building challenges, and other exciting, yet intentional activities.
*Must have been out of high school for at least one year, and are required to be 18-24 years of age.
This support staff position works with the Grounds Maintenance Director to keep Scioto Hills looking so great. Individuals must be at least 16 years old and have a desire to work outside with their hands. Grounds Staff are trained to operate a variety of equipment and assist with Program needs. Males preferred.
This support staff position works with the Foodservice Director to provide daily meals for campers. Individuals must be at least 16 years old and have a desire to serve graciously behind the scenes as well as display loving, servant-minded interaction with campers. Duties include washing dishes, cleaning, preparing and serving meals, etc. Females preferred.
This support staff position maintains a safe swimming environment for campers and staff. Individuals must be very responsible, at least 16 years old, and currently certified with the Red Cross. Lifeguards should have a desire to serve in other camp duties such as assisting the Program, cleaning, etc.
This support staff position works with the Maintenance Director to keep Scioto Hills functioning properly. Individuals must be at least 16 years old and have a desire to work outside with their hands. Maintenance Staff are trained to operate a variety of equipment and assist with Program needs. One of the main responsibilities of maintenance is chopping and stacking wood. Males preferred.
This support staff position works under our Nursing Coordinator to create a safe camp environment and treat injuries as necessary. Individuals must be college students (or recent graduates) with three years completed in the field of Nursing and approved for internship by college advisor. We will train Nurse Interns to care for homesickness as well as physical illness.
Office Assistant/AV Tech
This support staff position works closely with the Of5ice Manager to register campers, answer phones, process payments, create print materials, and assist with Audio-Visual needs. Individuals must have a good, working knowledge of PC and/or Mac and be able to maintain an orderly work environment. Polite, friendly phone etiquette is required to serve parents while their children are at camp. This person may assist with AV tech responsibilities.
Pop SHop Worker
This support staff position works under our Pop Shop Coordinator to serve campers and staff in the Pop Shop. Individuals must be very responsible, at least 16 years old, and desire to promote a fun and inviting environment for campers. Duties will include sales, accurate bookkeeping, cleaning, and some food prep, as well as assisting in other camp activities. (A Pop Shop Manager may be designated to lead in the absence of the Pop Shop Coordinator. Some experience in sales or retail is desired.) Females preferred.
All positions will serve in assisting the counselor in the evening and free times throughout the day (if responsibilities allow). All positions will also stay in cabin with campers and counselor.
